EAFT Terminology Summit 2018

European Association for Terminology (EAFT) in collaboration with UZEI (Basque Centre for Terminology and Lexicography) has organized the Ninth European Terminology Summit in San Sebastian on 22-23 November 2018. The Summit theme was 3M4Q – Making, Managing, Measuring Terminology: In the pursuit of Quality. The aim of the summit is to summarize the results of two-year work of the association. In his keynote speech, the president of the association Henrik Nilsson talked about the newly founded Vukol Beridze Association of Terminology of Georgia as well as the first international conference held in Tbilisi. He mentioned that the Georgian TermBank which is being created has multi and interesting functions. It was impressive to hear Mr. President ending his speech with the words of Vukol Beridze: “Every nation aspiring to live entirely cultural life obligatory needs to have its own terminology on the scientifically developed ground”.

The main aim of the European Association for Terminology (EAFT) is to coordinate terminology work and cooperate with other organizations. During the summit, it was planned to cooperate further and to arrange scientific meetings.

It must be mentioned that the EAFT General Assembly took place on 22 November in conjunction with the Summit and EAFT Award Ceremony on 23 November.
